Talvez, a título de sugestão: igrejas realmente pós-modernas, ou para-modernas, ou anti-modernas, seriam igrejas que redescobrem a tradição teológica, litúrgica e pastoral (ao invés de querer inventar a roda), que desistem da democracia como sistema básico (sinto muito pelos batistas – sou um deles), que retomam o sentido sacramental, que trabalham com pequenos grupos (sim, eles estão certos nisso), mas não caem no caudilhismo nem abusam de seus membros (como na massificação neopentecostal). Vamos ver se essa igreja emerge de verdade por aí.

[É imoral ter filhos?] – Darrow Miller discute o artigo de Elizabeth Kolbert, que acompanha o Prof. David Benatar na disseminação de uma mentalidade em favor da população zero (é isso mesmo! redução populacional absoluta!). Faz um rastreamento dessas idéias, e mostra fatores que nos levaram a isso, bem como os riscos envolvidos.

We are seeing the impact of the (dying) worldview of secular humanism/modernism that regards man as god and the (newly reborn) worldview of neo-paganism/post-modernism that regards nature as god. The latter is heavily promoted by Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth and David Cameron’s Avatar. The former elevates personal selfishness and lust for consumption of the world’s resources over children and families. The latter believes human beings are destroying “Mother Nature” and seeks to repress childbearing to preserve natural resources and save the planet.

TT: You have ministered alongside Dr. Sproul at conferences for many years in spite of differences on issues such as baptism and eschatology. How would you respond to Christians who believe that disagreement on these doctrines precludes any such cooperation?
JM: Obviously, the things we agree on are far greater in number and infinitely more important than the things we might disagree on. When it comes to foundational matters and the core truths of the gospel, R. C. and I are in complete agreement. The drive-train of authentic Christianity consists of vital doctrines such as the nature of God; the fallenness of humanity; the person and work of Christ; the authority and inspiration of Scripture; the way of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone; the nature of Christ’s atoning work; and all truths of similar import. On all such matters, R. C. and I stand together without wavering or hesitation.
